Bio

Laurie was born in San Diego, CA to amazing parents and one older brother who thought it was his job to protect her at all times. And still does. She grew up playing soccer and dancing until one faithful day when her friend Lauren asked her for a favor. Lauren wanted to audition for Cinderella at a local children’s theatre, but was afraid to go alone. Laurie wanted to support her friend, and after a rousing rendition of “Zippity Do Da” she was cast as 3rd Girl from the left! (Lauren did not get cast, but was in the following show, so their friendship remained in tact). Even though Laurie only had one line, she wanted it to be perfect. On Opening Night, she delivered, “I wish I were an older girl!” The audience laughed and she was hooked. Laurie declared, “I want to do this forever!”
After 7 years and many performances in her children’s theatre, Laurie
auditioned for her first professional show at the age of 15.
She was cast in The Music Man at the Starlight Bowl, this time as 3rd Girl from the right! Laurie spent the rest of her high school years performing with Starlight.

Laurie spent her first year of college at The University of Miami. However, she decided it wasn’t for her and transferred to The University of Southern California (Fight on!). It was here that Laurie fell in love with Theatre all over again and learned so much from her teachers, especially Kelly Ward. To this day, the skills she learned from him are what keep her going.

When she graduated, Laurie headed to Santa Rosa, CA to have her first experience doing Summer Repertory Theatre. She rotated between Bye Bye Birdie, Our Town, and Into The Woods. It was here that Laurie cemented her goal of moving to New York.

In October of 2004, Laurie made the move to New York and has lived here ever since. She has worked for a number of regional theatres and toured twice with ArtsPower National Touring Theatre. Although she is enjoying her new home in New York, she still misses the weather, her friends, and family back in San Diego. But Laurie loves the big city and the new family she’s made, and can’t wait to see what the future holds!
